How much does scaffolding cost? Prices and calculation examples 2026
To put it simply and honestly: a complete scaffolding system costs from around 13.50€ per m² (second-hand standard systems in large quantities) up to around 40€ per m² (premium brands in small quantities). If you hire it, you’ll pay around 2.80–6€ per m² per month, plus assembly and dismantling. Scaffolding costs per m²: a comparison of buying and hiring
Purchase (second-hand branded scaffolding, complete sets): The larger the area, the lower the price per square metre – our actual stock prices:
- 51 m²: approx. 19.50–25 €/m² (Standard) or 32–40 €/m² (Premium)
- 102 m²: approx. 17–20.50 €/m² (Standard) or 28–33 €/m² (Premium)
- 510 m²: approx. 15.50–17 €/m² (Standard) or 25.50–27.50 €/m² (Premium)
- 1,010 m²: approx. 13.50–14.50 €/m² (Standard) or 23–24.50 €/m² (Premium)
Rent (market rates): approx. 2.80–6 €/m² per month, plus a one-off charge for assembly and dismantling. It sounds cheap – but it all adds up: ten rental projects cost approx. 6,000–12,000 €, whilst a 100-m scaffolding purchased costs a one-off fee of 2,086–4,086 €.

How much does scaffolding cost for 100 m²?
100 m² of scaffolding area is sufficient for a typical single façade or a small detached house. Actual prices from our live stock (as at 07/2026, plus VAT):
- Purchase, standard model (second-hand, complete): basic specification from approx. 1,744 €, fully equipped from approx. 2,086 €
- For sale, premium brands (Layher/Hünnebeck, second-hand): from approx. 2,440€ (Layher Allround, 101 m²) to approx. 3,816€ (Hünnebeck Bosta, 102 m²)
- Rental (market rates): approx. 280–600 € per month for 100 m² of facade scaffolding, plus a one-off charge of approx. 700–1,200 € for erection and dismantling – a 4-Wochen-Projekt therefore costs around 1,000–1,800 €

Buying or hiring scaffolding – which is cheaper?
The rule of thumb in the scaffolding trade: the purchase pays for itself from the second use onwards. A standard scaffold for 102 m² costs from around 2,086 € second-hand – a single hire project, including erection and dismantling, costs on average between 1,000 and 1,800 €. If you use the scaffolding twice, you’ve usually already recouped your investment; thanks to the CETRAC Rebuy Option, the equipment also retains its resale value.

These 6 factors determine your scaffolding costs
- Scaffolding area (perimeter × working height) – the greatest lever. The larger the area, the lower the price per square metre.
- System and manufacturer – Standard (e.g. Plettac SL, Rux) vs. Premium (Layher, Hünnebeck, Peri).
- New or second-hand – certified second-hand goods save you up to 70%: buy second-hand scaffolding.
- Fittings – Full vs. Basic (stairs, brackets and canopies are charged extra).
- Downtime – with a hire agreement, every week counts; with a purchase, downtime doesn’t matter.
