Should I buy or hire facade scaffolding?

Whether it’s better to buy or hire depends on how often you need the scaffolding. If you use it regularly, buying pays for itself after just a few projects. The best way to compare the two is to use our ‘Buy vs Hire’ calculator – that way, you can see in seconds which option is cheaper for you.

Facade scaffolding or modular scaffolding – which suits you?

Facade scaffolds are frame scaffolds – the classic choice for painting, plastering and facade work on straight facades. For angled buildings, industry and high load classes, a modular scaffold is the better choice. We explain which system makes sense when in our guide.

Why choose CETRAC for your facade scaffolding?

Whilst the market often struggles with long delivery times, with us you benefit from unrivalled storage capacity. We constantly hold stock sufficient to cover several tens of thousands of square metres of façade area:

  • About 15,700 frame units: Available immediately in widths of 0.73 m and 1.09 m for all standard load classes.
  • 99,000 Scaffolding decks: Choose between sturdy steel decks for heavy-duty work or lightweight aluminium decks for quick assembly and dismantling.
  • 45,000 diagonal braces: Maximum bracing and stability for any scaffolding height.
  • Hand-checked quality: Every used frame and every deck undergoes our rigorous CETRAC testing process to check the integrity of the welds and the geometry.

What is facade scaffolding?

Facade scaffolding is a temporary scaffolding structure erected directly against a façade, providing continuous working platforms.

Facade scaffolding is a type of working scaffold erected parallel to the external facade of a building. It provides continuous, stable working platforms at various heights and enables tradespeople to work safely and efficiently across the entire facade.

What is the difference between the basic and full specifications?

The basic kit comprises the main load-bearing components: frames/uprights, decks and guardrails. This allows you to erect scaffolding that complies with standards, although no additional accessories are included.

The full set also includes brackets, access decks, toe boards, diagonal braces and, where applicable, stairs. For most building sites, the full set is the more practical choice – it saves on having to reorder items later and meets all safety requirements straight away.

The ‘Scaffolding Parts’ overview shows you which parts you need for a complete scaffolding – there you can buy basic and additional components individually or as a set.
