Used means for us: technically sound
Buying or selling second-hand materials is a matter of trust. At our 24,000m² storage facility in Leipzig, every single component undergoes a rigorous, multi-stage inspection process. Whether it’s one of the 15,715 frames or one of the nearly 99,000 decks – we guarantee safety you can rely on.
Our 4-stage quality control process
1. Incoming goods inspection & sorting
Every delivery is sorted by manufacturer (such as Layher, Plettac or Rux) and product group as soon as it arrives. Severely damaged parts that show obvious safety defects are immediately set aside and sent for recycling.
2 Visual inspection (geometry and condition)
Our experts check every part by hand for:
- Deformations: We check that the frames and brackets are at right angles. Any bends in the struts or diagonal braces result in immediate rejection.
- Welds: We inspect critical joints for hairline cracks or material fatigue.
- Corrosion: Superficial rust is not a cause for concern, but if there is deep pitting, the part is rejected.
3. Functional test of the mechanism
The mechanics are particularly crucial when it comes to small parts and accessories (over 25,000 items in stock):
- Couplers: We check that the threads on our 15,000 couplers are free-running.
- Floor covering fastenings: We check that the fastenings engage securely (5,600 in stock).
- Threaded base plates: The spindles are checked for smooth operation and straightness.
4. Storage & Documentation
Only once they have passed the test are the items added to our stock list. This ensures that the quantities listed – such as our 104,795 ledgers – are actually available for your next use.
FAQ: Frequently asked questions about our quality control
Second-hand materials often have traces of concrete or paint residue on them. We remove any coarse dirt that might interfere with the inspection. We deliberately do not carry out any cosmetic treatment (such as repainting) so that the true condition of the steel remains transparent to you.
The CETRAC inspection is an internal quality assurance process carried out in accordance with strict industry standards. It supplements, but does not replace, the legally required inspection carried out by a ‘qualified person’ on site prior to each installation.
