The difference between load class 1, 2 and 3 lies in the permissible load per scaffold level and therefore directly in which work is allowed on the scaffold. This is regulated in DIN EN 12811-1. A scaffold must be secured so that unauthorised persons cannot access it – especially outside working hours. The relevant rules are the European standards EN 12810/12811, national work-at-height regulations and the general duty to maintain safety. There is no single scaffolding system that is universally the safest. Safety comes from the right system for the specific application, combined with standard-compliant assembly and accessories according to EN 12810/12811.
For classic facade work, a system or frame scaffold with advance guardrail is considered the safest and most field-proven solution. For complex facade shapes, a modular scaffold offers the highest level of safety thanks to maximum adaptability.
