Roofing scaffold for flat roofs
On flat roofs, too, the rule applies from a fall height of 2 m: side protection is mandatory. A roofing scaffold for flat roofs performs two tasks: it secures the parapet edge as perimeter fall protection (side protection railing at least 1 m above the standing level) and serves as a working and material level for waterproofing, insulation or PV installation.
Typical flat roof configuration: frame scaffold up to parapet height + railing attachment, load class 3, brackets for the wall distance. For work on the inside of the roof, side protection systems are used directly on the roof. Calculate the required area with the scaffolding area calculator and the transport weight with the scaffold weight calculator.
All systems are available certified and at low prices as used scaffolding - and when it comes to permits and regulations, our guide Scaffold safety: permits, obligations & standards will help.

FAQ - Roofing scaffold
A roofing scaffold is a scaffold structure positioned directly at the roof edge, providing a safe working platform for roofing and carpentry work.
For re-roofing, roof refurbishment, repairs, solar installation, waterproofing, insulation work and the installation of roof windows.
When additional fall protection is required is explained on our roof safety scaffold page.
- Roofing scaffold: working platform for the roofing trade.
- Roof safety scaffold: fall protection for catching people and material.
The two systems are often combined.
You can find more on fall protection at the roof edge on our roof safety scaffold page.
The height depends on the building. Systems are modular and can be adapted to roof height and pitch. Which loads are permissible per level is shown in our guide to scaffold load classes.
Yes, although depending on the pitch, additional protection walls or catch levels are recommended.
For steeper roofs, we additionally recommend protection walls or a catch level - more on this on our roof safety scaffold page.
By trained specialists using frame elements, decking, diagonal braces, side protection and, where necessary, protection wall modules. What matters for safe erection is summarised in our guide: erecting a scaffold correctly.
