What is facade scaffolding?

Facade scaffolding is a temporary scaffolding structure erected directly against a façade, providing continuous working platforms.

Facade scaffolding is a type of working scaffold erected parallel to the external facade of a building. It provides continuous, stable working platforms at various heights and enables tradespeople to work safely and efficiently across the entire facade.

The two most important system types on the German market are the frame scaffold (e.g. Layher Blitz, Hünnebeck Bosta, Plettac SL) and the modular scaffold (e.g. Layher Allround). Frame scaffolds are quicker to erect and ideal for straight facades; modular scaffolds offer more flexibility with complex geometries.

What is the difference between the basic and full specifications?

The basic kit comprises the main load-bearing components: frames/uprights, decks and guardrails. This allows you to erect scaffolding that complies with standards, although no additional accessories are included.

The full set also includes brackets, access decks, toe boards, diagonal braces and, where applicable, stairs. For most building sites, the full set is the more practical choice – it saves on having to reorder items later and meets all safety requirements straight away.

The Layher Blitz scaffolding (System 73 / System 109) is the most widely used frame scaffolding in Germany. It is available in two widths (0.73 m and 1.09 m), can be erected very quickly and is ideal for standard façade work, ETICS installation, painting and renovation work. Layher Blitz is regarded as a premium system with the highest resale value on the market.
