Used means at CETRAC: technically sound
Buying or selling used material is a matter of trust. At our 24,000 m² yard in Leipzig, every single component goes through a strict, multi-stage inspection process. Whether it is one of our 15,715 frames or one of almost 99,000 decks – we guarantee safety you can rely on.
Our 4-stage inspection process
1. Incoming goods inspection & sorting
Every delivery is sorted immediately on arrival by manufacturer (such as Layher, Plettac or Rux) and product group. Heavily damaged parts with obvious safety defects are removed straight away and sent for recycling.
2. Visual inspection (geometry & substance)
Our experts check every part by hand for:
- Deformation: we check the squareness of frames and brackets. Kinks in standards or diagonals lead to immediate rejection.
- Weld seams: we examine critical connection points for hairline cracks or material fatigue.
- Corrosion: surface rust is harmless, but parts with deep pitting are rejected.
3. Functional check of the mechanics
Especially for small parts and accessories (over 25,000 items in stock), the mechanics are decisive:
- Couplers: we check the smooth running of the threads of our more than 15,000 couplers.
- Deck locks: we test whether the locking devices engage securely (over 5,600 in stock).
- Threaded base plates: the spindles are checked for smooth movement and straightness.
4. Storage & documentation
Only after passing the inspection are items added to our stock list. This is how we make sure the quantities in the list – such as our 104,795 ledgers – are actually ready for your next project.
FAQ: common questions about our quality inspection
Used material often shows concrete residue or paint. We remove heavy soiling that could hinder the inspection. We deliberately do not carry out cosmetic refurbishment (such as repainting), so the true condition of the steel remains transparent for you.
The CETRAC inspection is an internal quality assurance process based on strict industry standards. It complements – but does not replace – the legally required inspection by a “competent person” on site before every assembly.
Yes, as a trade supplier we stand behind the quality we have inspected. Should a part nevertheless not meet your expectations despite our strict checks, we provide straightforward replacement from our huge pool of over 40,000 items.
