What does a scaffold cost? Prices and worked examples 2026

    Short and honest: a complete scaffold costs from approx. 13.50 € per m² to buy (used standard systems in large areas) up to approx. 40 € per m² (premium brands in small quantities). To hire, you pay approx. 2.80–6 € per m² per month plus assembly and dismantling.     Scaffolding costs per m²: purchase and hire at a glance

    Purchase (used brand-name scaffolding, complete): the larger the area, the cheaper the square metre – our real stock prices:

    • 51 m²: approx. 19.50–25 €/m² (standard) or 32–40 €/m² (premium)
    • 102 m²: approx. 17–20.50 €/m² (standard) or 28–33 €/m² (premium)
    • 510 m²: approx. 15.50–17 €/m² (standard) or 25.50–27.50 €/m² (premium)
    • 1,010 m²: approx. 13.50–14.50 €/m² (standard) or 23–24.50 €/m² (premium)

    Hire (market guide values): approx. 2.80–6 €/m² per month, plus one-off assembly and dismantling. Sounds cheap – but it adds up: ten hire projects cost approx. 6,000–12,000 €, while a purchased 100 m² scaffold costs a one-off 2,086–4,086 €.

    What does a scaffold for 100 m² cost?

    100 m² of scaffolding area is enough for a typical single facade or a small single-family house. The real prices from our live stock (as of 07/2026, excl. VAT):

    • Purchase, standard manufacturers (used, complete): basic package from approx. 1,744 €, full package from approx. 2,086 €
    • Purchase, premium manufacturers (Layher/Hünnebeck, used): from approx. 2,440 € (Layher Allround, 101 m²) up to approx. 3,816 € (Hünnebeck Bosta, 102 m²)
    • Hire (market guide values): approx. 280–600 € per month for 100 m² of facade scaffolding, plus one-off assembly/dismantling of approx. 700–1,200 € – a 4-week project thus costs around 1,000–1,800 €

    Buy or hire scaffolding – which is cheaper?

    The rule of thumb from the scaffolding trade: from the second use, buying pays off. A standard scaffold for 102 m² costs from approx. 2,086 € used – a single hire project incl. assembly/dismantling averages 1,000–1,800 €.     1. Scaffolding area (perimeter × working height) – the biggest lever. The larger the area, the lower the price per m².
    2. System and manufacturer – standard (e.g. Plettac SL, Rux) vs. premium (Layher, Hünnebeck, PERI).
    3. New or used – inspected used material saves up to 70%: buy used scaffolding.
    4. Configuration – full vs. basic package (stairs, brackets, protective roofs cost extra).
    5. Standing time – when hiring, every week counts; when buying, standing time is irrelevant.
