Ledgers, base jacks, toe boards, diagonal braces – anyone ordering a scaffold for the first time faces a vocabulary of its own. This glossary explains all common scaffolding parts and their names in one sentence per component – with a direct link to our inspected stock. The scaffolding glossary: components from A to Z
Load-bearing components:
- Vertical frames (standing frames): the load-bearing base element of the frame scaffold – view scaffolding frames
- Vertical standards: individual posts of the modular scaffold with rosettes – vertical standards
- Scaffolding ledgers: horizontal connection between the standards – scaffolding ledgers

Decking & access:
- Scaffolding decks / scaffolding planks: the working surface in steel, aluminium or timber – scaffolding planks

Safety:
- Railings (side protection): mandatory from a fall height of 2 m – railings

Base & connection:
